Our client inherited the original cottage which dates back to the 1920’s. Sited along a sandy stretch of the Ards pennissula, the cottage did not respond to the distant views across the Irish Sea towards the Mull of Galloway. We designed a two storey curved roof structure which sits easy with the single storey host building. The first floor reading room and master bedroom have far reaching coastal views while the ground floor is highly glazed connecting the open plan space with the landscape. Central to the internal space is a double height library and bespoke staircase which wraps around a bookcase spine.
